  • I land it with 40° of flaps 55 kn otherwise it won't come down.

  • @davidmarkschultz . David, you are right about the CT's reluctance to descend. I haven't flown the CT since I finished my RV12 a year ago. Since then I have experienced the same "lightness" of flight with the RV12 and now approach at 55-60 Kt with max flaps (two notches). If crosswinds are present, one notch and 65 Kt. The RV12 is a delight to land. Makes one think they are better then they really are.

  • whats your app speed?

  • @captclivemason Downwind at 80 knots, crosswind at 70 knots, final at 60-65 knots woth zero flaps. If unusually calm, final at 55-60 knots.

  • Nice video... 'liked the different views. Check out CTFlier.com

  • You use a lever with your right hand. It's the one on the far right of the centre console.

  • how do you brake when you are on the ground because it doesn't look like you can with your feet

  • Thanks again Frank for sharing your wisdom! I think my problem is too much power and too far from runway. You must do a very short base which is a better idea. Since I'm new and still have a tendancy to be heavy on stick. I like to trim out all pressure so I can just hold it lightly with 3 fingers.. I'm still green I guess. That's why I like talking to pilots with more experience... Its like a free lesson, Thx. Frank.

  • I'm abeam the numbers on the beginning of the runway when I idle power and 3/8 to 1/2 mile off centerline. This approach enables me to maintain 70 Kts through pitch control. When I turn to base and then final at 60-65 Kts, I still have the option to apply power, and often do, to maintain my desired altitude to stay on the glide path. I rarely adjust trim for a pattern flight. The CT has such light stick pressure, unlike the Piper Warrior. As for the FBO selling the SW, business is business.

  • Thanks Frank!

Bummer on selling the SW, should have just added to the fleet. Anyways, idle power when abeam downwind? You must really trim it up alot? I don't think I can glide that far but I'll try one out like that. BTW, how close are you to the runway on the downwind leg?

Thx alot! Glad you got a newer/better plane to fly.
