@Minimalistique84 if you go that way a honda f20c engine is the best engine. because it has a 2liter 4cylinder and has an output of 250hp... so thats 125hp per liter

@Minimalistique84 I understand Italian supercar makers' concept. However, it is not my taste to have an engine at the back of my seat screaming pseudo Formula style. It is tiring to drive that way.
I like Porsche 911 GT3 though. Its flat six makes unique sound.
As for American pushrod V8. The concept is long stroke large displacement engine to generate massive low end torque to red line. It is another type of engine concept. At the end of the day, these engines cater to diff taste.

For example the corvette is a good car but not perfect like Ferrari or Porsche.
