This is one band I am sorry I never had the pleasure of seeing live. On the other hand I've had the honor of seeing his spoken word performance many times. Wish Rollins would do more gigs here in the DC area

what better example of the power of bass in a song? gibbs managed/manages to re-write the rock bass book over the course of the album 'weight'. the tone, the melodies, the reharmonisation and messed up blue notes remain for me the most important approach to electric rock bass in the last 25 years. i guess its not surprising given his resume! viva rollins band! viva gibbs! viva ornette coleman!
