  • This cut was simply a rehearsal tape on an antique small reel to reel recorder. It was never intended for a release. We'd been together about a month when this was recorded in my mother's living room in Odessa. Richard Porter

I started the Poor Boys in 1955 with Eddie Williams. We then hired Ronnie Smith, Carl Bunch and Bob Hardwick. When I left for college in the fall of 1958 the Poor Boys broke up. Carl Bunch picked up with Buddy Holly and when Buddy was killed, they called up Ronnie Smith to finish the tour. Ronnie took his own life in '62, Bob died in 2009 and Carl died in March 2011. Eddie Williams is retired and living in Odessa and I am retired and living in Rockwall, TX. Richard Porter

  • @col1rbtx Ronnie died in 1962.

  • This group were from the Midland-Odessa area and active in the latter sixties, I think it was. Ronnie Smith may have had a release on Imperial also?
