The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde, despite his and reputation for insouciant witticisms, wrote some of the most moral, most beautiful and most heartbreaking fairy tales in the English canon. Here is the best known of them, "The Happy Prince". It is set to Claude Debussy's "Claire de Lune" as, to me, the music evokes the same beauty-to-the-point-of-pain-in-the-heart as the story itself. It is a calm delivery, perhaps more suited for relaxing before bed than for the entertainment of more invigorating yarns. If the story is less captivating than others, than I hope at least the make up will suffice to beguile.
