  • Sure sounds like D.E., but I'm not so sure about that being the Ventures. I'm pretty certain they never played together.

  • @grampy1741 They sure did record together. Check out Duane's 1998 CD " New Depths". This was one of two tracks on the album in which the Ventures joined Duane..

Ventures musicians on the session were: Bob Bogle, Don Wilson (guitar); Gerry McGee (bass); Mel Taylor, Leon Taylor (drums).

  • Please check out the stereo version of this track.

  • it sad that we never got to hear Buddy do this song

  • I can't be certain of course but I think Buddy was gone before Sonny Curtis wrote the song. But then everything about the loss of Buddy is sad. We just have to be grateful that at least he left us a huge collection of great material.

  • A match made in heaven.

  • It's a cracker. Hope you are able to hear it with the volume cranked up to 11.

  • @ukbarton I don't mean to start any rumors, but I Fought the Law was written while Buddy was still alive in 1958. It's doubtful that he ever recorded it, but there's still a wealth of tracks by him that haven't been released yet.

  • abit of correction...Duane Eddy on main lead, Gerry on second lead, bob on Bass, don on Rythem & Leon on Drums...clarification only.

  • @sunwarrior88 bobby fuller was influenced by the mafia i mean buddy holly duane eddy played a biker named eddie in the savage 7

  • @ukbarton the ventures did an interview in guitar player magazine where they said the only act they would consider being an opening act for would be mr. twang duane eddy

  • @ukbarton

That would be his son Leon Taylor of the drums as Mel died of cancer in August 1996

  • As a pure instrumental, I do like this Duane Eddy - Ventures version of Sonny Curtis song.

  • I think Sonny Curtis may have written this for Buddy Holly, but Buddy died before they could record it. Sonny & Crickets then recorded it - maybe as an onor to Buddy. If I am wrong, whip me twenty lashes with a wet noodle.

  • @mnestrt My channel is an archive of great music like this. DE did a great appearance with Art of Noise on the Peter Gunn Theme as well! DE is one of about 20 guitarists & 400 artists overall playlisted on my channel. I've tried to build an archive of the best of a century of worldwide music, hope you stop by. chuck

  • @adamAZ8529

I couldn't agree more!!! I'm sure it would have surpassed the BF Four version...there IS a version by the Crickets w/o Holly which is pretty damn good!

  • wow! it don't get any better than this! Dune Eddie and the Ventures. thank you for posting.
