Recently, Brian Cook from mgoblog.com forwarded me an e-mail from a fan asking if there was any footage available on the halftime tribute to Keith Jackson from the 1998 Penn State game. This was right before his first retirement where Bo Schembechler presented him a jersey with "The Big House" over the front as well as a Michigan football helmet. The marching band spelled out, "THANKS KEITH." On T.V., we only got the tail end of the tribute but here it is.
I would have loved to see the entire thing. Especially since it was Keith that nicknamed Michigan Stadium, "The Big House."
Classic !!!

I always wanted to live in Ann Arbor & came here in '74. What a great experience it's been: including hearing Keith Jackson and Bob Ufer announce Michigan football games. Jackson deserves every bit of the honors he'd gotten. He's amazing, funny and memorable. I hope someone out there is practicing to be the next Keith Jackson and his first job will be announcing a Michigan game. Go Blue!

@Scerni01 This was not the stone-age. Throughout games even at that time, there was instant replay and announcers commented on the instant replay. Are you telling me that, in a bowl game, the TV announcers could not even see the instant replay?

I have a tape of the 1976 M-OSU game that Michigan won 22-0 with the radio call from Bob Ufer dubbed over the ABC sports audio. Ufer died when I was 11, and I actually cried. When Bo died in '06, that was the first time my wife saw me cry, but that's beside the point.

Too bad that's not true. Jackson DID NOT see that replay; it wasn't shown in the booth! And from his perspective, there was a fracas on the sideline but how was he supposed to tell that Woody Hayes had thrown a punch? There were a lot of people milling around and Woody Hayes was one of the smaller people in there!

I'm glad Keith Jackson came back and was able to do the 100th OSU/UM game. It was fitting that it was his voice calling that game on TV.
