One of the greatest linemen in football history, John Hannah was a two-time All-American under legendary coach Paul Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama from 1970-1972. Hannahs number two ranked Crimson Tide fell to number one ranked Nebraska for the National Championship in the 1972 Orange Bowl. While at Alabama, Hannah was a pivotal member of an SEC Championship winning team, and later was named to the University of Alabamas All-Decade team of the 70s and the schools All-Century Team. Following his collegiate career Hannah was the first round pick of the New England Patriots and the fourth player selected in the 1973 National Football League Draft. He played his entire12-year professional career with the Patriots, being named All-AFC and All-Pro 10 times each, and was selected to play in 9 Pro Bowls. In the final season of his professional career, he was part of an AFC Championship team and played in Super Bowl XX. He won the NFL Players Associations Offensive Lineman of the Year award four straight years from 1978 through 1981 and was also named to the NFL All-Decade Team twice (1970, 1980). Hannah was also selected to the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team, being named the No. 1 guard on the team. He was inducted into the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and in 1991 he became the first New England Patriot player, coach or administrator to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
