"Demi are you okay?" She said, stroking my cheek. Although my thoughts roamed with things to say, nothing came out of my mouth. And when I didn't answer,
she pulled me into a hug. I didn't hug back. She pulled away. "I will never--ever let him do this again to you, understand me?" This time I did actually do something. I nodded, and soon felt her lips upon mine.
We were on the couch, a few minutes later, her arms holding me close to her. We were lying down on our sides, face-to-face. She touched my bottom lip with her finger. "You restore quickly," She said. "I can barely see the
redness in them anymore. They're almost like they were before Joe did that." I'd finally found the urge to speak. "W-why did he do it?" I asked. Selena looked at me, a tad bit surprised that I had asked that. "Because..."She began.
"Because I told you. If I wouldn't have, he wouldn't have went that far. It's forbidden for our kind to let any human know about us, as I've told you before."
I nodded. "So, where does this lead us?"
"It means...Our relationship will have to stay secret. It means if anyone else finds out, I'm risking everything. Including you."

"What!?" I exclaimed. Me? Why Me?
"I could be hunted down by Vampire Hunters, and they will get you." she said, I stared at her in disbelief. "If I'm in a relationship with you, I'm risking my life." I summarized everything she said. Selena nodded. I sat up, but she grabbed my hand, and pulled me back down. "I won't let anything happen to you in this world."she told me, and rested her hand on my cheek. "B-But what about you? I mean-- what if something happens to you?" I said. "Don't worry about me. I'm here to protect you." Selena replied. I smiled unassuringly, and turned over. Her arms
wrapped against my waist, and she held me close. "If you wanna spend the night here, you can." I shook my head. "Thanks for the offer, but I'd like to get home right now. I sat up, and looked at her. She looked stricken, and a little sad.
Her eyes were round, but her expression was somewhat determined. 'Reconsidering' began to cloud my thoughts. Maybe staying here would keep me safe? But then Joe's here. I looked up the stairs. "Don't worry about Joe"
She said, turning my attention back to her. It furrowed my brow. It was as almost if Selena was reading my mind right now. "I just know you were thinking of him. Your face tells it all." She replied nonchalantly. "My mom will start to worry about me." I said. "I have to get home." I stood up, and walked to the door. "Maybe some other time" I said, and opened the door. Before I walked out, I felt her hand grab my wrist once again. "Right. Maybe some other time."
She said, slightly smiling. She kissed my exposed shoulder, then my neck, my cheek, and then planted a light kiss on my lips. "See you later, Love" She said.
----Later----
It was late at night, and I was lying on my bed, recapping the days' events. I gained enemies, made friends, met a vampire, was almost killed, and I'm now in a relationship with an immortal person--all in a day. Could life get any weirder? I tossed a few times, thinking intensely about Joe and why he tried to kill me. Was it because I hated him? Or was it because of Selena's theory? Well, whatever it was, I couldn't care less at the moment. All I wanted was for my
eyes to shut, and for me to fall asleep. But something else happened. My window shot open, blowing cold air into my room. I sat up, in full alert. "Who's there?" I said into the darkness. The window shut, and I saw the shadow
approaching my bedside. "Who is that!?" I yelled. A cold hand from the intruder clamped across my mouth. "Shh!" They said. "It's Selena."
