  • Nice phrasing, is that you on the piano also? You play the changes well.

  • Thanks very much. It's not me on piano, unfortunately (I wish it were) - it's actually Horace Silver (we're brought together via the wonders of technology).

  • kev, that's really beautiful. i am learning this piece in the metheny version for acoustic guitar. could you be so kind to tell me which scales are you using for the impro? thanks for your inspirational work, b.

Thanks very much. The scale I'm using is a bit of hotch-potch - I suppose I'm using an E flat Aeolian mode (E flat, F, F#, G#, B flat, B, C#) with the odd flattened fifth (A) thrown in. I'm also choosing the notes from this scale with caution so as not to clash too much with the changes.

  • thanks for your music man!! what kind of software do you use for recording?

  • Thanks. For this video, as with the last twenty or so, I used Steinberg Wavelab to edit the backing track, then loaded the backing track into Cubase SX3 and recorded the solo over the top. I filmed the video with my Sony Cybershot camera, which is great for visual quality, but poor on audio, so I then matched the mixed-down track from Cubase to the video clip by trial and error. All the guitar effects are provided by a Zoom G2.1u plugged directly into my laptop.

  • thank you very much kev, i'll definitely try that scale. I have been using the b phrygian (B C D E F# G A B) but more in a flamenco style (starting and ending on E) and that seems to work well. but I wanna try other scales to mix it with. thanks again, b.

  • Great Job.... another 5 stars !

  • Great job, great feeling! Thanks

  • thanks! I'll try that!
