  • Ive always read that these engines are hard to get power out of ,i would love to see a really heavily tuned one, just to see if its possible to get good power ,and if its just a case of people taken the easy route and fitting a v6 :)

  • @kevrs2 Yes, its hard to get power out of a V4. a normal engine block, with som light modifivatioan (inlet, heads, carbs and exhaust) will give maksimum 90 bhp, if you want more than that, it wil cost you som hard cash.

In the rally versions it was bored to 1784 cm³ and 1933 cm³ giving around 150 hp (110 kW) in the naturally aspirated version and 200 hp (150 kW) DIN at 7000 rpm in the Saab 96 RC Turbo version, doing 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in five seconds. SAAB also tuned the engine to 240 hp.

  • So how smooth does a V4 run in comparison to V6s and I-4 engines? I've never seen one in person.

  • @7477238 Its not smooth. The V4 engine sin "not" in balance, Internaly in the engine there is a balace chaft, with conterweigts, to smoothen the vibration

  • i hope thats water coming out of the tail pipe. i want a v4

  • it was a cold day, and the engine was just started, so the smoke and water coming out is condense from the air humidity.

  • @slayerman95 Are you blind?

  • @slayerman95 It's a V4, originaly a disign from the Ford Cologne V6. Many of the internal parts form the V6 fits the V4 (piston, valvetrain, rods). You can even put a V6 engine in a SAAB 96, but you have to move the radiator further forward.

  • Check that water spray

You got a sweet healthy engine

  • @Motorchevytoyota some1 cant watch f1 cause he doesnt understand much of this "weird" sport , can u lent me ur car to go to the farm and harvest some corns ??

  • @Motorchevytoyota hey we could all get truck engines in the normal cars and we all be americans ... unfortunatelly we are no so stupid to do such things , f1 is just to fast for u even to watch , thats why u hate the honda sound and prefer the truck noise ...

  • That sounds like a V4 should..perfect. On cold start mine dripps water from the tail pipe but that soon goes when the engine comes up to temperature..something i never had with the standard exhaust..just with the Jetex.

  • @johnsurs22 my bad u right they flat 4, anyway i stick to the i4 4g63t

  • @mitsuevo8mr actually I think those are flat 4s

  • @slayerman95 this engine is in fact a V4

  • subaru uses v4 engines also known as boxers
