DIALOGUES & ARS SACRA FOR WORLD PEACE
is contemplative Visual document of 6 symphosiums and a lecture prepared by Buddha Dharma at the cultural/congress centre Cankarjev dom, Ljubljana, Slovenia (1998-2000). These events took place at the end of old millenium, just before beginning new one. Every second part of symphosiums was entitled : Visions for the fiuture. After 9 years we are happy to present impressions from Dialogues & Ars sacra programme to worldwide audience through our YouTube channel.meeting that visions for the future and sharing them with all. Dialogues between government organisations and religious communities/Churches and other NGOrganisations which form civil society are important part of every democratic country , as stated by the US ambassador in her essay . Topics of the Dialogues were very important then as are still today :
Religions & ethics, Attitude toward death & dying in world religions/dialogue with science , Methods for attaining mental peace & permanent happiness, Wisdom & compassion/love for contemporary world, Religion & democracy , Dialogue between Christianity and Buddhism, Dialogue about religions and new age movements. At each events we offered flowers, lights and prayers for world peace. Ars sacra created peaceful, contemplative atmosphere to reflect on inner qualities.
May such peace, lights and prayers spread all over the planet : together we pray and meditate for inner and outer peace ! Buddha Dharma is thanking congress / cultural centre (director: Mitja Rotovnik, educational / humanistic programme: Olga Butinar-Čeh, Peter Šorli) for helping to organise the Dialogues & Ars sacra and to all who collaborated in many unselfish ways :
Churches & religious communities : Catholic Church (Cistercian abbey Stična), Buddha Dharma (ven. Jisu Sunim , South Korea, our guest at 3rd Dialogue), Islamic community, Evangelic Church, Community for Krishna consciousness, Jewish community, Bahai community, Universal life, Unification Church, Baptist Church, White Gnostic Church.
We also thank the Government of Slovenia for partitipation : Office for religious communities, Office of the president , Office for women´s policy , Slovenian delegation at the Council of Europe (leader : Borut Pahor, from 2008 president of the government of RS), Office of the ombudsman for human rights. US embassy actively partitipated on 4th Dialogue (Religion and democracy : Breda Popovič, representing US ambassador Ely Nancy Raphel). At two Dialogues with science there were distinguished guest speakers from the University of Ljubljana Faculty of social sciences (dr. Marko Kerševan), Medical faculty (prof.dr. Radovan Komel), Thelogical faculty (dr. Drago Ocvirk,dr. Anton Mlinar), National and university library : Information & documentation centre of the Council of Europe (Liana Kalčina). Few NGO´s actively took part at the Dialogues : Amnesty international (Alenka Jerše) , Hospic society (dr. med. Metka Klevišar) and the Agency for development initiatives. Without artists the Dialogues would not have been such unforgettable events with Ars sacra : Sandi Pavlin, Zen Dojo Graz- Austria (Franz Blauensteiner & the Sangha), Marinka Štern, Marjan Hlastan, Andrej Skrbinek, Andrej Kikelj, Mangala Konchok Norbu and Aleksandra Androtič (flower arrangements). RTV Slovenia (Sašo Paukovič) reported from all Dialogues/Ars sacra. May peace, lights and prayers spread all over the planet : together we pray and meditate for inner and outer peace !
