Since 1885 every RCMP officer in Canada has gone through Depot in Regina, Saskatchewan. It is an incredibly grueling program that teaches respect, honor and discipline. Kevin Marion is 24 years old and will be going to Depot to realize his goal of becoming a Mountie. With hard work and a bit of luck, his father Al, a 28-year RCMP veteran will present him with his badge at the end of the 24-week program. But sometimes wanting it doesnt always mean you get it.

Training is not easy. Been there done that! I know some troops that 3-4 of them quitted before it even started. Everyone can get through it if you put your mind to it. Its hard physically and mentally, but its not impossible.

@BonhommeHero If you have the opportunity, intelligence and gifts to become a doctor, what greater benefit could you be to your country in every entity. I am not saying that being an RCMP officer does not have status or recognition, but you have a gift of intelligence that could benefit all members of the RCMP and that is being an excellent physician. Healthy, strong officers is what we need.

How much focus is given to education (academics) during training? What type of member would depot produce if all cadets had a post-secondary education? I have noticed that some of the young graduates who grew up in very small rural settings feel that merely wearing a uniform that resembles a culture that is ranked in the top pecking order immediately merits them with some arcane, esoteric knowledge. Dealing with people demands education about society, psychology and the law.

Coming across these videos is pretty hard for me... because I'm having second thoghts about becoming a doctor.

Or I could become a doctor then do this but who has the time?
