An experimental piece, done to see how the classic Gerry Anderson series, Stingray would look using more Realistic techniques based on Hunt for Red October and Crimson tide with a dash of Sea-quest DSV. Set to a reworking of the Stingray theme by Guy Taylor.

Based on this i probably wouldn't go down this road if i remade Stingray. Its just too dull compared to the dynamic environments of the original show but Still a fun piece to do anyway.

Directed by Chris Thompson
Music By Guy Taylor.

  • So this is what an all new Stingray would REALLY look like? Pretty cool! Wish it was in production.

  • @zathras9now Glad you liked it :) its one way of doing it, the other would probably look more like finding nemo :D

  • Where did you get the engine sound of Stingray?

  • @noob1138 One of Members of the Fanderson forum has amassed as much of the original Cinesound fx library. He released the fx a while back... or you could record a motorised egg whisk.

  • Super Cool! This is a Well Done Video! any plans to try something Similar with Captain Scarlet or Joe 90? Keep up the Great Work & Please tell Guy he Did a Bang up job with the stingray Theme!

  • @fightboss Thanks :) glad to hear the musics going down well. Actually there is an origins of the Mysterons Video i started a year back i still need to finish.

  • Fantastic! Loved Stingray when I was a kid!

  • I would love to hear the full Stingray theme remixed this way. So atmospheric! The programme would lend itself far more to a CGI re-engineering than Captain Scarlet did - particularly with such a beautifully-modelled original craft and not the bastardised updates the Captain Scarlet series foisted on us.

  • Fantastic! Great atmosphere in the underwater scenes. The surface shot needed better lighting, if I was going to be critical, but it's still excellent.

  • Great job! Beautifully done. It just makes me want more. You should really reconsider doing this as a CGI series. I watched the original as a child and I would definitely watch this as an adult. I disagree, I think you could make this an exciting show that the whole family would watch. I would love to see a longer trailer version with the characters and, of course, more of Stingray. Thank you for making this segment. Please do more!

  • they (whoever THEY are!) need to make this as a series, with yourself and gerry anderson, its awesome, and i didnt even like stingray! id watch this. well done

  • This is a great reworking of this show. Please tell me that this is going to be produced. I'm a fan of the show and I would really like to see something new done with this. Not like the Thunderbird movie that came out in 2004. But make it all CGI and not all geared towards children. Because Gerry Anderson made childrens shows with out it always being for the kids.

  • @TB1fan

    link?

  • Really nicely done. Very clean!

  • Very well done, I loved that!

  • Nice as a CGI experiment but I wouldn't want to see this as a series. Puppets forever. New Captain Scarlet lacked the excitement of the original, even seen with adult eyes.
