  • I wonder how you play the flute. I don't know if my flute is good or not, b/c it's seem that I can't blow in correctly

  • Well done! I Just received a Xiao in the key of D, I am a Native American Flute player and this is a whole new experience for me.

  • Awesome job, I just ordered my first xiao flute, nine holed version from Hong Kong. Do you know where I might get some xiao sheet music?

  • If this is you playing for the first time, it makes me wanna quit haha. I've started playing Shaku about two weeks ago...I've loved the sound of Chinese and Japanese flutes since I was a child. Would like to get one of these next :-) Good job!

  • It's the same species of instrument, shakuhachi came from china to begin with (chak-bat in Middle Chinese, chiba is the modern Mandarin pronunciation, Chek-baat in Cantonese) It's longer and produces a fuller, less raspy sound, it almost sounds like an Irish Low Whistle. There is solo repertoire. Though the famous Xiao pieces are duets with the Guqin. The recordings you hear are of more recent musical history. The further you go back in time, the closer Chinese music sounds like Japanese music.

  • beautiful

  • you're amazing, I love the low pitch jumps you get on that instrument, it makes me feel like I'm in a jungle like environment. :)

  • get a life lol

  • This is really terrific! How does this compare to shakuhachi? Is it as difficult to learn the basics on? And, is there a solo repetoire? Most of the xiao recordings I have heard all have many other instruments on them.

  • nice!
