  • You need to take a science class or do some studying bud. The reason your yogurt isn't moving or separating is because the fermentation is only carried out to a certain level at the factory. Yogurt is then chilled. The low temperature slows the growth of the bacteria. If you put your kefir in the refrigerator before or during fermentation you would see the same thing. The fermentation will stop, and likewise movement and CO2 production will cease. Do your homework before you teach.

  • Ok hot rod, you think you got it but you are WRONG! Get some kefir, put it in the fridge with milk, and watch it separate! I have seen it TOO MANY times. So instead of talkin smack, start DOING, and prove it to yourself.

  • It may separate, but it won't continue fermentation. Different bacteria grow at different temperature ranges. Most common bacteria don't grow below 40F. That is why we refrigerate our food. I have done. Not with kefir, but I have plenty of experience fermenting beverages. I am not saying kefir isn't better than yogurt. I'm simply saying that your comments on yogurt aren't based in fact. Yogurt is made for consumers who want flavor and texture. For them probiotics is a secondary concern.

  • Wrong again, Yes it will continue to ferment. At a slower rate but it will continue. Get some, culture some grains until they are nice and hardy. Make a batch of kefir and watch it ferment IN THE FRIDGE. Please don't leave anymore comments on here about what you THINK you know. Start putting your ideas into reality and SEE what happens. I've been doing this over 5 years, I know what I'm talking about.

  • @timelesshealth Even if you are correct, your responses were pretty rude :-S

  • Thank you for putting this video out. My boyfriend has been making kefir for a yr now and he lost 50 lbs before I met him. He just got me started and I've lost 15 lbs. I have the Lactose problem and the Kefir has calmed my whole intestinal area down. My doctor has commented on the energy level I now have. I am not only losing weight, but I'm feeling muscular and stronger. So,

thanks for the info---I appreciate the help.

  • I have gotten a good yogurt starter out of acidophilus Danon Yogurt & ditto Meijer;s yogurt, so I feel sure they are good probiotics.

  • @timelesshealth Also, isn't storebought yogurt pasteurized? What good bacteria would be left after that process to continue growth anyway?

Good videos. I just tried my first batch, a strawberry kefir smoothie, with a bit of stevia for extra sweetness.

  • wow!! So informative . Love your videos, You explain things in a way that everyone can understand. I have learned a lot, Thank you :)

  • Kefir needs a warning note:

Kefir needs to be drank regularly for benefits. Drinking Kefir initially causes bloating, cramp, and massive super farts. Like....wow. Everyone clears the room type farts.

It goes away after a week, unless you stop drinking it for a few months and then drink it again.

For the 1st few days I was so uncomfortable. It was like a war was going on between all the bacteria in my intestines.

  • @apaker - lol you confused molds and fungus with bacteria.

  • I recently discovered Kefir and am just looking for good information, so thanks.

One observation I have to share is that I have noticed Yogourt separate when I opened it AFTER the expiration date UGH disgusting! not sure what that means but I heard you comment about Yogurt not separating...

  • LOL "Hot Rod"!! LOL I love you man... Keep up the great videos I been watching them... I did 6 liver flushes so far and have taken out over two handfuls of you know what.... Keep it up..

  • Conclusion: make either your own Kefir or Yogurt.

LLRain000, if 'Most common bacteria don't grow below 40F.' why will bread mold in the freezer? reducing temperature does not completely halt bacterial growth, but it does slow it down. all frozen food has an expiry date, the length just changes for different foods.
