They just can't get passed the receptionist and it all comes down to a couple of quick and easy to understand ideas. Firstly sales people don't really answer the questions the Receptionist asks.
The Receptionist (gatekeeper) doesn't care what you are doing they want to know what the call is about. So if what you are doing is selling advertising, you need to be clear what the call is about, I call this the underlying reason for your call. In advertising for my company I am looking to get exposure to my target market, training managers in the contact centres or sales directors in small to medium sized industries. If the caller says advertising I will not take the call. If on the other hand the caller says that the call is about "getting exposure to 20,000 sales directors in the SME sector". It works better the more technical the produce or service is.
Technical training companies offer courses in Microsoft Office and Microsoft certified training refers to these courses as Microsoft Office Specialist Core Certification. If what I am "doing" is selling these courses the call is "about" MOS Core, thank you.
