Paine was a Diest also and called for a religious society. He did warn against the institutionalizing of any religion, but there is no doubt he believed in God-given natural rights.

What about Thomas Paine? His influence was greater in this period that John Locke. I don;t think we would have had a revolution without the printing of "Common Sense" and Paine was an avowed atheist. Also the creator mentioned in the "Declaration of Independence" was a Deist construct given the philosophical leanings of Jefferson, the primary author of that document.

Yes, I reviewed it as well. Good video.

True. Still, look at the Penn Jilette video on it. A bit compelling :)

Exactly.

Yes. He's personally a religious guy. What US politician says they aren't? But considering he's a strict Constitutionalist he does not, nor cannot, endorse his religion through government. Ron Paul is no theocrat, unlike Obama, Perry, Palin or Santorum.

I'd agree in most cases. Ron Paul I would vote for though despite the fact that he is a baptist.

Everybody's religion sucks but mine!

There is no evidence to suggest Barky is an atheist. We have every reason to think he is a Christian based upon his personal and public pronouncements.
