Tata Young takes time out to talk with Ben backstage at the One Movement Festival. This Thai superstar is ready to show the Australian Music scene exactly what pop is about!

Amita Marie "Tata" Young was born in Thailand to a Thai mother and an American Father. She spent her childhood in Bangkok attending American schools showing an affinity for performing and singing at an early age. Tata was given the chance to demonstrate her unique talents when she signed up for a national singing contest winning with her powerful performance of "One Night Only" at the age of 14. This performance propelled Tata into the limelight in Thailand and it wasn't long before she became a national singing sensation winning the hearts of the entire country.

Tata continued to dazzle audiences with her powerful stage presence and artistic versatility before she hit the big screen with starring roles in both Thai television programs and films winning awards for her critically acclaimed performance in "The Red Bike Story" in 1998. She continued to electrify audiences and went on to release numerous Thai language albums.

After signing with Sony Music in 2001, Tata released her first English language album, "I Believe", which shot to the top of the charts in almost every country in Asia. Tata soon was a household name in numerous countries appearing on the front cover of Time Magazine and being named the brand ambassador for international consumer products such as Colgate and Yamaha.

Her career continued to flourish prompting Sony to release her second English language album "Temperature Rising" in August 2006 which included such hits as "Sexy, Naughty, Bitchy" and "El Nino". It wasn't long before Tata released "Dhoom, Dhoom" which propelled her into the International limelight once again solidifying Tata as one of the greatest singing sensations and one of the few Artists to reach super stardom in every country throughout the region.

Tata remains active in Thai society and supports numerous charitable causes. She has recently been appointment the Brand Ambassador for Ford Motors Thailand and regional Brand Ambassador of "Make a Wish Foundation". Tata is an avid collector of fine watches and has a passion for show dogs. Her film career was recently invigorated with a supporting role in an independent Hollywood film acting opposite James Brolin. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in Q1 2009. She is in discussions to appear in other Hollywood productions on the calendar for 2009.

Tata has released 15 albums and sold 13 million throughout Asia with chart topping hits in every stage of her 14-year career.

  • @phuditpuangmalai hahaha Thanks for your comments and taking the time to check the site. I got the job because i OWN the company hahaha

I have shaved my hair short and keep my beard tidier these days. Its hard to get time when you're on the road non stop. I hope you come back to check out more interviews as we are about to head back for the 2010 edition of One Movement and have some great interviews with Pan-Asian artists once again. All the best. Ben (Your Minger) hahaha

  • at the time i was provided info by the One Movement festival in Perth. This was october last year and at that time WIKIPEDIA did not have that info....

  • Hi Guys,

We completely agree with what your saying. It was a shock to Ben also. The information provided to RCN ONLY talked about "Tempreture Rising". The other thing you all have to keep in mind, is that we here in Autralia, New Zealand and counterparts in the US and the UK have little knowledge on the Pan Asian Artists prior to One Movement, that was the object of the event, to learn of new talent. Thankyou for your feedback, we appreciate all comments posted.
