7 people didn't get a donut on this cold, dim, fluorescent morning.
-
Was is a seriously unappreciated bass player.
-
Is that Jeff Porcaro on drums?
-
Where do I have to go to get my very own Robot Girl? Hey....wait, didn't some Japanese guy invent one!
-

These lyrics are a perfect marriage of sci-fi imagery, beatnik rap and delivered with a side of LSD. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Ecouterohmy Hey, *I* didn't say it, Harry did. But, you're right, I was harsh. My bad.
This line always gets me; "...her skin gleaming blue every time a fly died..."

@Mongo61 ahh david was so much prettier in person...magnetic and endearing....

from the mind to the world
couldn't have said it better myself
-
"TV screen faces aren't pretty, it's true"
Is that a swipe at David Was?
This was a great fucking show: Leonard Cohen, Pixies, Sonic Youth, (speaking of flutes and R&B) Curtis Mayfield...
I guess the music clearances must be horrendous. What a shame; no DVD I guess.

This is a perfect example of what made Was Not Was so special. First there's the near cacophonic craziness of Earth to Doris coupled with David Was' clandestine effort to touch wordjazz (you younguns go look up KEN NORDINE and then thank me to your grave) and then there's the flawless rhtythmic slide from cacophony to mind warping jazzfunkrock tres buttkicking of Robot Girl. This band simultaneously made no sense and made perfect sense.
