Super Mario Bros. 2 Speed Run

This is a speed run for Super Mario Bros. 2. I did not do this speed run. I got it from www.speeddemosarchive.com. I got it for all those Super Mario Bros. fans out there, and non-fans alike. So please don't accuse me of copyright infringement, or plagurism. Enjoy.

This run took me about 4 weeks to beat the record. I speedran this game for a while back in 2005 and the best time I could get back then was somewhere between 10:24-10:27. No way did I think I would be able to improve my run by over a minute. I made a lot of mistakes in this run so I might improve it sometime in the next month if I get around to it. I think my personal limit for this game would be about 9:05. I lost the most time in level 7-2 where I decided not to get hit by the birdhead. This wasted 5-6 seconds but I probably would have died at wart had I been hit there. I was aiming to get about a 9:10, but I'm satisfied with this for now. Anyways, I think after I do some more speedruns, I will see if I can get sub 9 minutes for this game.

does anybody know why when he was using toad he was always carrying an enemy, was it for protection? if so why didnt he do it with luigi! i cant work it out

I think that when you are holding an enemy with Toad, he runs faster.

I always wondered what the full layout of the very last level (7-2)looks like. There are so many different pathways and secret places hidden in that level. One time I went in a door and ended up outside of the castle. It's like a maze.

I was never good with Toad. I liked Luigi or Princess because they can jump or glide over just about everything. With Toad, you have to go through each part of the level, but with Princess, you can just glide over things. I always die with Toad.

@naystee7 toad also has more power, meaning he can pick up items alot faster

I remember when Mario All-Stars came out in 1994. All the gaming magazines/sites were heralding it like it was God because it had 4 of the best games of all time. I remember, for The Lost Levels, Nintendo issued a challenge to beat all 8 levels and world 9 without warping. I did it eventually but it sure did take me a while. Luigi is definitely better than Mario is for that game. All those jumps, for example on level D-4, are darn near impossible with Mario!
