is that a case tractor that your driving your corn is not that tall.

I didn't check the moisture, I just eyeball it. It was deceptive. It was late corn planted in July following combined wheat. We had a very dry late summer and right before I decided to chop it due to drought, it rained. All of the kernals fell from the cob. It blew and chopped quite easily and didn't drain much at all.

In germany most farmers are chopping maiz with a moisture of 66-78%. I think 60% is not good for the silaging process.

I did finally have it checked and it was 68%. Anything above would be too wet to store in a concrete upright silo. Silage bag, now that is a different story.
