Count Dracula of Romania is being swamped by a tourist boom. Tourism has overtaken the facts of his spooky life and turned them into fiction. For fans worldwide Bram Stoker's Dracula - as immortalised in the book and countless films of the same name - is the real story of Dracula, teeth and all. But the real Vlad Dracula story, particularly nasty though it is, bears little relation to Stoker's version. He was a minor Count in a different part of Transylvania renowned for impaling his enemies on wooden stakes. The Transylvania Society of Dracula wants to set the record straight. They lead us on a tour of Vlad's home town - complete with the Dracula Hotel and coffin-filled crypt.

  • I heard somewhere that to the Romanians, Dracula is viewed the same way that Americans view Abraham Lincoln, and to call Dracula a blood sucking tyrant would be like calling Honest Abe a mad man as well.

  • @guevarrajustine OMG why didn't I find you sooner?? I'm from Phil. and I love Romania too! :) Romanians and Moldovan are smart and beautiful people. Too bad their government and politicians are corrupt as hell like we have here in Phil. :/

  • @40Pacino We view him as a hero because if it wasn't for him we would have been part of Turkey now, since the Ottoman Empire tried to conquer us, but he managed to take out an empire that was almost 5 times our size. He did that by doing some very crazy things, but we are thankful because we still have our culture and our land because of him.

  • ARMENIANS AND ROMANIANS ARE BROTHERS FOREVER

  • They failed to mention vlad the Impaler is a distant relative of George W Bush.

  • LOVE ROMANIA !!!

  • No Embed = Censured ... so , where is the truth if it is hidden to others? censorship and democracy :))

  • @snottyxraygirl , the second language spoken at Microsoft is Romanian so we're pretty smart vampires ;) You folks should come visit our country...we'll make sure you'll have a ....juicy experience hehe :P

  • @nikkijaneallison I love Romania as well, I know it has some bad images from people, and there is much wrong with every country- none are perfect. I have found Romanians to be smart, friendly, and all around wonderful. They go out or their way to help Americans by speaking English and they are very adept at the language. Bram Stoker never set foot in the country, but I don't want to go into that here. Love Romania!

  • Way back when vampires sucked blood, not cock.
