Lady Barbirolli sent me a lovely note when my husband died in 1997. I will always treasure the note and their music.

The oboe really sings, regardless of one's taste in styles of playing.

Barbirolli was just awesome. He was a true universal and could and did several styles, periods, traditions. But I wonder if anyone can post his rehearsing of the Mahler's Fifth? I believe it was with 'his' Hallé Orch., from Manchester.
More of Giovanni Barbirolli!

What great conducting! I must confess I do not care for Lady Barbirolli's tone, having been spoiled by Ray Still, Heinz Holliger, and others.
