@philliesenior01 It isn't low impact because the weight is being moved rapidly and then ends with an errupt stop. Which causes a huge amount of force on your joints and tendons not the muscle itself. The problem with explosive exercises is your hips and legs are only used initially and then the momentum carries the weight the rest of the way. It is more practical to lift a load slowly through full range of motion.

@fight4themoney when done properly, momentum has nothing to do with the workout. your arms are simply hinges for force generated by your hips and legs. and not even all kettlebell movements even use a swing. with correct technique they strengthen the major muscle groups as well as all stabilizing muscles. its low impact and high intensity, what more could you ask for.

God, listening to this was painful, anyone who is an exercise physiologist can tell you that lifting weights with momentum takes away from gaining strength and increases your chance of injury. You have to understand that these athletes were good before they started lifting kettlebells.. they are just getting a nice check like most edorsements.

@terrystrand---obviously you have never used a kettlebell.... Let me rephrase that: You have never been taught proper form in Girevoy Sport.
You can't do snatches, swings, Long Cycle Clean and Jerks. Don't try to say that you can, because you can't---properly, that is. Even RKC methods are not the proper Girevoy methods. RKC is hardstyle, basic, elementary, although easier for the general population. Why don't you learn first before you speak?

Just like anything all of the comments are correct. Yes you can do any exercise with a dumbbell that you can do with a kettlebell however the efficacy of the exercise is different (not better or worse just different). If you're an athlete kettlebells should only be part of the training you'll never develop the strength with a kettlebell that you can with a barbell. Kettlebells are only a supplement.

Any exercise that can be done with a kettlebell can be done better with a dumbell. They are a gimmick.

This information is correct, but it is misleading. Such a narrow focus on just one approach to exercise (the kettlebell) can dupe people into thinking that this is all they need to do to not only get in good shape, but to be a powerlifter and a bodybuilder?! I call shenanigans! You need an eclectic, dynamic program in addition to these Kettlebells, and more importantly, you need to be intense about whatever you do. Don't be swayed by this cult mentality - pave your own path.

This is a great video. Do you have a page where you list endorsements by professional athletes.
