if only you young american men and women would know what you are really fighting , killing and dying for when joining the army you wouldn't go near the army for a clear mile... There is nothing heroic in killing people from oil rich countries for the gread of CEO's of federal reserve and Goldman Sachs

@dawp25 You 'Patriots' always talk about Dying for your country, but never about killing for it.

I'm a Army Junior ROTC cadet, and my parents accepting that I want to join the army in my near future is something that I've tried talking to them about. But under circumstance, they don't agree with this decision but will allow it. I am proud that I will be able to serve my country, and proud that I will be alongside the worlds greatest soldiers.

I am respecting soldiers who fight for their brothers in arms, but I will never ever understand why one could seriously want to join the US army, just to get shot invading countries for their natural resources (Iraq) or revenge on random people (Afghanistan), get treated worse than dirt, and be ignored upon returning home.
Seriously joining this club, and being a hero, is not a smart choice.

I'm 23 years old now and telling my parents I've joined the Army is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done. I've always done what they wanted, so to stand up and decide for myself what I want and will do is very new. But, this, is my passion and my pride, and whether they accept it or not, I will never waiver or be sorry for my vow.
