Fantastic demonstration of Lubitsch talent!

Just got the MOC set Lubitsch in Berlin. Worth every penny. But on the DVD are German Intertitles with English subs.

Wow -- compare the soundtrack here (by Aljoschka Zimmerman) with the one on the clip posted by jfahr (linked just above) and see the difference music tracks can make when viewing silent films! I far prefer this one as I think it's much more appropriate.
Trivia: The mad bandleader is played by Curt Bois, who played the old poet/philosopher Homer in Wim Wenders' "Wings of Desire". He's about 18 years old here.

I agree. That's why I added this particular clip, I was disgusted by the other sample on YouTube. A film like this, so entertaining, needs to be promoted more.

Whenever this score/soundtrack was added it was synchronized beautifully!

If you enjoy it get the DVD. The film is hilarious. There's also a second film on the disc with the same comedienne, Ossi Oswalda, called I Don't Want To Be A Man, similar to a Victor/Victoria type plot.

For a silent film, they certainly captured music and dancing in the most grandest of ways! Do you think the score that's on the DVD is the one that originally was played with the film in 1919?

No, it's a brand new custom score. Lots of orchestras are doing new scores for old silent films these days. They enjoy the creativity.
