One of the very few places that can also explain Blender, not just demonstrate.

Thank you for all these tutorials Mr. Beck. They're very helpful.

Im currently studying Game Design and Development.

So is it that most teachers are more familiar with the commercial product versions?
For instance more teachers probably
heard of Microsoft Office rather than
SunSystems Open Office.
-
hey i love your videos keep it up!!!

Do you have any idea why more schools don't use open source programs more often when they are just as good and don't cost a penny?

great videos. thank you for sharing them. i am just getting to know blender and these are very helpful.
that being said, i think its weird the way you say "the blender" its as though you are referring to an appliance. :)

I have a slight problem with the camera-when I press 0 it shows another layer and not hte cammera view, how do i make sure that the cammera view is a layer/is with the hotkey 0???
Looked up your school's web page and saw your own profile. It says that you were an English major and an Education major.
So how did you end up doing a computer/graphic design class?
Figures that your school would be a magnet one.
Not that there's anything wrong with that but
that it would be nice if public schools could
teach stuff like this.
The program is open source so it's free.
Know of any reason why public schools don't
teach kids how to use Blender?

Why don't most public school teach this kind of thing? Simple: Most of your really competent designers/programmers are out making lots of money already. It's a rare thing to find someone that knows this type of materal and can be described as an effective teacher. Hard to find out there.
Thanks for the response.

A somewhat off-topic question. How often do you have to re-record yourself talking because you mess up?
Your videos are helpful, by the way, thanks.

Generally, I cut these things between 6:30 and 8:30 in the morning. People walk in, announcements happen, and I make a lot of mistakes. Usually, I walk through the instructions once and make sure everything is going to work. Then I turn on the screencast recorder. Sometimes, I do get it on the first take, but not very often. If I can get through the instruction without anything too major happening, I'll encode, upload, and post it.
It usually takes me at least 4 tries.
