Actually the AK was made in 1945 after the war by a Russian War veteran.

@Sn1p3rSh4wn You and ghost9431 are both partly right the prototype was built in1945 by Kalashnikov while he was recuperating in a hospital the AK 47 went in to production in 1947 hence the name...
