Don't know if this will be helpful but I'm not I'm nearly 8 sets up a sense of frustration with the hope that things will get better. But of course things never get better for him.

Really great portrayal of this, really helped me to do my monologue for A level theatre studies. I don't suppose you could help me find some hidden meanings of this monologue? I can't seem to find any relevancy it has to the rest of the play!?

Thanks @broganable glad it was useful for you.
As for relating it to the rest of the show...
The speech sets up Sammy as a bully/Mickey's oppressor but also his hero/ideal and it is Sammy who leads Mickey to his ultimate demise.
You could say given that his father has always been absent sees Sammy as a father figure/substitute, Mickey also feels that he is teased and treated like a child by his mother, which he does again later when he's in the prison.

Two worms, a catapult and an underground den are very un-luxurious items - perhaps a comment/set-up on Mickey's impoverished childhood. And a stark contrast to Eddie's wealthy upbringing. This could also link to the narrators final comment about how class was more to blame than superstition..
Mrs Johnstone is very protective of Mickey - he is the youngest and seemingly the best looked after - guilt for giving away his twin or just a strong maternal bond?

What a bad audience..

@wippymike They weren't great that night, but the sound was recorded through my personal radio mic, so the audience are barely audible, shame really.
