Frontier: Elite II
In this review we experience TWO YEARS of game time condenced into just 80mins! Topics include: how to fly your ship, using the hyperdrive, effective goods trading, drug trafficing, bugs!, long distance exploration, joining the army, becoming a space taxi, combat and dogfighting, and much more. Most of the heavy drudgery of trading has been cut - to leave us with the interesting parts, the quirks, the puzzles and the complexities of this classic space simulator. Expect the usual graphics comparisons and review banter along the way. As you may imagine by now, this review took 4 weeks (with six major revisions) to produce and edit, and a whole day just to upload it - so Thanks very much for watching.

oh.., in case you want to carry on from where I left off, here's my final Save Game file. http://lifeschool.mikendezign.com/Dan... This file must be loaded from within the Amiga version of Frontier: Elite II

I think the old pen and paper method is the best way to trade with confidence. ;) Still nothing beats it.

Awesome video, will be subscribing , I'm quite impressed seeing this, it's amazing how it was fitted on 2 floppy disks.

You'll never see this sort of thing these days, unless you count Mass effect. It's sort of similar.

Actually, the '2 Disks' part is a bug in the review. Yes the game came on 2 disks technically, but in practice the whole game was on ONE disk (disk 1), while disk 2 was virtually EMPTY; consisting of five 'interesting saved games' for players to try. In the review I was of course talking generally saying the package came on two disks, but this is misleading as disk 2 is essentially a branded blank for the players game saves.

Played Frontier & F.E. a while back. You keep your craft in "auto" mode, if you keep it in free flight you waste so much less fuel. You can also exploit the "fast forward" bug - let the autopilot set heading to your target, fire main engines to max speed, then when near the target you can press the max time compression and you save the time& fuel of braking. Apart from that being just said, without question the best games I've ever played.

I had a big folder full of wormholes for this game. If you wanted to travel far, you should find a star 655.5 lightyears from your departure point AND your destination. If you jumped like this, you used very little fuel, and got to your destination fast.

Rock isn't good on General MIDI. Maybe if somebody did it with real guitars.

Let's turn off the music... in the PC version, and I think in the Amiga version too some notes just hung.... First thing to do was to turn off the music. I do like the songs, especially Frontier and First Encounters themes.

Auto pilot? Pssshhh. My favourite part of the game was exploring and landing on planets without it. Such an amazing game, I really hope the new game re-captures what made frontier great, just with a modern polish.
