Tamworth Pig Farrowing

Piglets are sold... The 3-Bell Ranch's Tamworth sow farrowed five piglets on Oct. 5, 2010.This video contains footage of the birth as well as first eight weeks of the Tamworth-Duroc piglets' lives.

Four of the five piglets are sold. We are keeping "One-spot" who will be Izzy's companion and our second breeding pig.

We raise our animals as naturally as possible. Izzy, the Tamworth farrowing in this video, has been raised on pasture since her arrival in November, 2009. She and her pasture-friend, Daisy (a pot belly pig) were turned out into a 2 acre pasture all summer and fall of 2010. The piglets have had a glorious life with Izzy teaching them to dig roots, hunts grubs, and nibble on grass. in September we turned them all into a 1/4 acre vegetable garden planted just for them. They delighted in finding squash, beans and a myriad of root crops.

When I look at the conditions most pigs are kept in I want to weep.

Please support your local farmer. Most of us small-scale farmer/ ranchers take exceptional care of our animals and provide them a quality life until the day of slaughter.
