http://spiritdei.blogspot.com A celebration of Christmas from the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge. The simple story of the Nativity is told in the familiar words of the King James Bible, and in poetry by Henry Vaughan, John Milton and TS Eliot.

The famous chapel choir sings carols old and new, including the Sussex Carol, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, In the Bleak Midwinter, the Three Kings, Lux Aurumque - by the modern American composer Eric Whitacre - and O Come All Ye Faithful.

This first piece is traditionally rendered by a chorister chosen at random!

  • Beautiful, beautiful! Thanks for posting, especially as I missed the broadcast this past Xmas, for the first time in ages.

I heard that the soloist is not announced until right before the hymn begins. Many reasons: nerves, competition, etc. I visited the chapel a few years ago, and it is a fabulous space.

  • Glad you were able to catch the carols here. I have been listening to the service from as early as I can remember, I'd like to visit the chapel some day.

  • You're Welcome!

  • Good Lord! People are criticizing a __kid__ singing in front of a gazillion people without accompaniment?

World famous adult singers crack from stage fright..I think this boy is GREAT!

  • As long as one is in the right spirit, God will be pleased. It does not matter the voice or quality of the performance. And by the way I thought this was excellent.
