In 1983, DC Comics produced Teen Titans Anti-Drug comic books for Keebler, IBM, and the American Soft Drink Industry. These were tied into President Ronald Reagan's anti-drug campaign. Since Keebler was unable to use Robin (Dick Grayson / Nightwing) due to licensing issues, the new character called The Protector was created. Shortly after the comics were published, a 30-second animated commercial was produced. The character designs were similar to those used on the Superfriends (Super Powers Team) cartoons that were being aired on ABC at the time. Included in the commercial were Protector, Raven, Starfire, Cyborg, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), Kid Flash, and Changeling (Beast Boy).

  • Why didn't you just post the video?

  • @TommieV

I'm sorry, I was in that kind of mood. I'd just uploaded something to Deviantart that got a bunch of trolls on it telling me how crap it was so I just removed it.

  • @Mrspikeprime Calm down. I was being sarcastic. I'm an animation major, too.

  • @TommieV

Really? That's your argument? That drawing is hard? Dude, I'm taking A-level Art, and about to go into university to do animation, and I know the difficulties of drawing--it's not that difficult once you practice. Besides, the art itself isn't bad--they just don't look like they're in their teens.

  • @Mrspikeprime Drawing is hard.

  • Thumbs up if you agree that "Teen Titans" is a rather ironic title considering the fact none of these people look remotely teen-aged.

  • Why the fauk they ain't had a TV show for them?!

  • and that Protector character apprently stuck around for a bit and even got a Who's Who entery in the late 80's/early 90's

  • 0:07 - 0:14 I still got this comic book in my possesion. Got it when I was in 5th Grade back in '83. I remember our teacher reading this aloud to us in class.

  • fave part 0:14 - 0:20
