  • Can you fish in any part of the San Juan River? Or are you only allowed to fish in certain areas?

  • @MrHossCartwright - I think the fishing starts close to the bottom of the dam, but not too close...near the small church. From there you can fish all the way down river. It's not lush and green, but more rocky, brown scrub brush.

  • your a newb at fly fishin rich guy your first ever fish on a fly rod and you have all that gear must be nice to have lots of oney

  • Rented waders, borrowed vest, borrowed net, pole, reel, jacket stayed in a $30 hotel that night. Please get your facts straight before you comment next time kid.

  • i also fish with flyrods after atlantic salmon, big brown trout and norwegian cod, but i dont wear things i dont need! only a rod, rell, flys and flybox, and waders, and i often catch salmons on 14-20kilo, you know, its not the gear that catch fish, its the hook thats catch fish;-D

  • niezła sztuka

  • nice trut keep on goin

  • I've spoken to the experts on this ... especially on trout ... bare wet hands unless it's table fair. That glove will definetly strip the slime off!!!

  • Handling a trout w/gloves is fine. In fact it's better than handling with bare hands.

  • Well done but do not hold the trout with gloves on because that will remove the fish protection.

This is how I do it: first I wet the net to land the trout then put my wet left hand under the net and hold the trout gently then use wet right hand (my dominant hand) to remove the fly.

Make sure take less than 10 sec when you take photos of your trophy, seen many people hold the trout out of the water for few min and they turn belly up down the stream.

    Happy fishing!
