Sir Sanford Fleming students idled in traffic for up to two hours on Tuesday (Sept. 6) as Fleming's support staff picketed out front of the Brealey Drive campus. In mid-July, members voted 77 per cent in favour of a strike when a collective agreement couldn't be ironed out between and the College Employer Council, representing management, and Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) bargaining team, which represents the support staff. Brealey Drive, between Lansdowne Street and Fleming Drive, is lined bumper to bumper with vehicles.

@brodie1100 if your talking to me... 1 i actually work 35 hours a week while attending fleming college. I work hard for what i have and what i plan to have in the future. my parents haven't paid for anything for me since i was 15 because right now i am probably in a better financial state. 2 The economy isn't so bad anymore that you cant find a job... McDonalds and Tim Hortons are always hiring. 3 im not bashing the union or what they might be fighting for,

@brodie1100 cont-> infirm diabetic father, some of our parents arent rich and its not because of a choice anyone made, the union is fighting to fill their pockets nothing else as soon as the support staff strike pay out-weighs the union dues they will collect from the support staff, however long that may take, the layoffs begin, and i thought they were fighting for the "support staff and students" hahah thats a joke, money makes the world go round and nothing else

@brodie1100 the union is fighting to keep union workers in the college for years to come, the college on the other hand is now doing the smart thing they saw there chance to get rid of the union, and they are taking it. the support staff can all be replaced and the college will continue to treat them as they always have union or not because this is not the 1910's or 20's anymore, and some of us have to struggle to goto college, without osap i would have no dream of college because i support my->

@4mazda3 Im going to give 3 reasons why no one should listen to this f*ck up. Number 1. He is probably a student to begin with who sits in his little room and probably only got in through mommy and daddy's money. 2. In the current economy finding another job is not a very valid option. 3. Yes there may be other jobs but that is not what the union is fighting for, and whiny bitch's have no right to say other wise and its more of an inconvenience for the workers then others. Oh and, You Mad Bro??

I understand why you two disagree so much, because you both hold valid points. Sending personal attacks isn't going to change the situation. All of us hold the right to our own opinion and this wall is for expressing it, not putting down someone else's views. From what i understand, if you’re qualified, there are other jobs. If you don't like this one, then find a new one... don't inconvenience everyone around you that has no control over the situation you are in. You ARE replaceable.

nothing personal but i did go to college and i did get an education to get a higher paying job, i hold 4 separate licences for my job which i pay for not the college. As for the offer it doesn't even cover cost of living increase, but because its an inconvenience to you i'm suppose to just accept it and go back to work. As for the students being late for class you know there's a strike get up and go to school earlier. The college won't come back to the table to talk, so talk to your President.
