Dreams do not happen in the mind's eye. Have you not noticed that you have to shut down your mind's eye, just as you close your outer eye? Also, this can be perceived because the mind's eye sees things as distant, whereas one feels as if one is present in dreams.

Dreams occur in a separate realm, through a separate eye.
