At the end of a trade report on ABC this strange pattern interrupted the broadcast...

Some text was visible:
"This text must be legible and this should be..." (text gets very small afterward in the middle)
"Rate Control Killer" (gray pulsing box on left)
"OK, Wise Guy...Lets see you code this" (upper right)
"This is a string of 12 pixel high, 8 pixel wide white drop shadowed characters crawling in from the right" (top)

The next blurb is slightly cut off on the left hand side:

"This page of text is moving in circles. It goes round and round, and it comes out here. ___ trick is for you, ___viewer, to read and understand the message. (followed by a string of letters repeating)" (left side)

There is other illegible text throughout the picture.

Im not sure if this is ABC or some interference from an unknown source..."Captain Midnight"?

Turn up audio to to hear it properly (taken with camera)

  • @TazAgainstTheMachine The real Max Headroom or the pirate? XD

  • I see smiley face :) on the corner of the tv

  • @PsychoJosh I was racking my brain for ages about that, then I saw your post. Thanks bro.

  • trippy

  • Looks like a test screen that isn't supposed to actually go on air, but obviously did somehow.

  • It can only be attributable to human error.

  • That audio was from the Dolby surround demo DVD.

  • If this were an HD test there would not be a flashing smile and no music there would not be eye illustions

  • @TVNewsRI That can happen when you're not monitoring what's actually on air. Especially with networks, on both ends.

  • The sound is from a Dolby Digital scene where the helicopter is flying through the city.
