Bhutanese Refugee (Seniors) after completing Summer class in Oakland, CA 1

After getting evicted from Bhutan in early 90s, Bhutanese refugees spent almost two decades of their life in the refugee camps in Nepal without doing anything. Finally, some of them arrived in the US under resettlement program. At least, their children and young ones will have better life in the future. For the seniors, language barrier has been one of the major factors in their life for adjustment in the new environment.
BACC coordinated with the OUSD to start a English class to help the Bhutanese seniors to at least write their name, phone number and address. Now around 95% of Bhutanese Seniors living in Oakland can at least do so.
