How to manually open a CD or DVD drive.

If you have a CD or DVD drive that will not physically open then you can still get your disk out. You just need a paper clip or a small tip screw driver and push it into the release hole in the drive. The tray should pop out and you can open it the rest of the way by hand.

when i put in a paper clip nothing happens and when i shove it in too far it makes an awful noise but still doesn't open any help?

@paulisemo15 Try doing it when the computer is off first, and use a longer paperclip

@DefconComputers the paper clip only goes in 1/2 an inch then stop and cant go in without alot of pressure

@paulisemo15 That happens on some that are stuck bad, just be sure to do it when it's off. Generally if the drive does'nt open with the button it is time to replace the drive either way, so really nothing to lose.

what do i do if its stuck and wont go back in now, when I try to push it back in it starts like vibrating?

@kolbehughesvids You can try and force it, but if it's having that issue you need to seriously replace it.
