Music makes me, from the 1933 musical "Flying down to Rio" with Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. Here with Harry Roy and His Orchestra from May Fair Hotel in London on a 78rpm record from 1933. May Fair Hotel in London was known over all Europe from the BBC broadcastings with the Dancing Music during the Inter War Time. Many different bands were playing there, among them Harry Roy.

  • Nice version - a good alternative is by Abe Lyman and His California Orchestra on Brunswick...

  • This is a mysterious issue. Can't be a UK issue - pressing like an old Columbia, pre-HMV merger, more like an German Odeon, or French. Typeface is different too, and the matrix isn't the same as the one in the book - CE-6458!

  • My theme siong

  • Let's party like as if it were 1928!

  • FLYING DOWN TO RIO, carefree madness and escapism. From one of the darkest years of the the Depression...extraordinary times bring out extraordinary creativity in people.

  • Brilliant this-never heard a dance band recording of the tune-many thanks

  • This is great -love the song and saw it last night on "Flying down to Rio" as sung by Ginger Rogers. They just don't make 'em like that any more! Thanks for posting this Harry Roy version.

  • Great recording from one of my favourite movies !

    Thank you !
