  • CBC should have kept this theme, sports pianos. Bagpipes dont fit the theme for hockey

  • This is why I risked my life putting up an antenna.

  • too bad tsn bought this song, its just not the same on wednesday nights

  • There is just something about this one, even more than other renditions of the Hockey Theme, much more so than the current one, that gives me chills of joy.

  • Nice to see Peter Zezel (of blessed memory) as one of the featured face off players. He was well known for his face-off skills. RIP Peter.

  • This is by far the best HNIC intro. The classic backyard youngster hockey hopefuls, the families skating around, all the old-school footage, and THE BEST orchestration of the old music theme. Great post! GO OILERS!

  • That's because the current (at the time) intro was only 35 seconds in total, so this was always my second source, followed by the 2002-2004 intro (and, in one case, a 1984 intro for a very long theme [I should reupload that Retrontario video that I coaxed him to take down due to now-unlikely risk]).

  • I like how RetroWinnipeg used footage from this open in his "Potential New Themes".
