@oliverlebot It is bare metal because of an inspection that is done ever 10 years or so many flying hours where the aircraft is taken apart, basically to nothing, inspected, and rebuilt. Its doing touch and goes probably because he is doing a Functional Check Flight (FCF) that is done after the inspection. Also another reason for touch and goes is to acquire monthly hours pilots need. But due to it being Palmdale and no paint, he's probably doing FCF.

Hey 808 great that you got to see him maybe he was video taping you too.You got some great vids pal and some wonderful pics at Nellis. I was out at Nellis in 95 when you could still get close to the runway boy that was like being at LAX and John Kennedy airport combined,got to shoot the last few F-4Gs out there and got some great F-111s banking in.Im sure they put up the fence cause Las Vegas wanted to put in houses right up to the runway theyll be sorry when a plane goes down on the warehouses

this is not rare for me to see, i live about 14 miles from beale afb, and im in the CAP SQ at beale and i see those at least 2 times a week! they are so loud.

What I mean is one with stripped paint where it shows the metal. Just figured if people on fencechecl are calling it that why not me 2?

Y does it matter? When your a devoted plane spotter like my family is and the other 4 photographers that were there are, u know that seeing a U-2 like this is something u dont see 2 much of even at Beale. We went to Plant 42 from vegas basically for a 4-ship F-117 arrival that would last only 3 minutes, when I saw this one come in and stay in that pattern, it really made the trip worth it.
