Before Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick were the toast of Broadway, Robert Morse and Tony Roberts starred as Daphne and Josie in "Sugar," the musical version of "Some Like it Hot," produced in 1972. It was nominated for 4 Tonys, including Best Musical. This clip was taped at Carnegie Hall and is from "The Leading Ladies" Broadway series of concerts.

@IDRIS1130 ... There will never be a movie adaptation because this is an adaptation of a movie.

Oh, I loved this musical version of "Some Like It Hot" too! I saw it on Broadway in the '70s when I was living in New York, and the night I saw it, I caught the bag that Morse always threw into the audience during this piece. Made my day -- probably my week! : D

"Sugar" was re-mounted in England, in the 1992, under the title "Some Like It Hot", with Tommy Steele in the role of Daphne. I have the cast album.
A new production of it was supposed to open in London in autumn, 2007, but the 22-year old producer of the show was arrested for tax fraud and was revealed to owe thousands of pounds to employees of "Some Like It Hot" and previous shows he'd worked on. So the show never opened.
