Brian Wilson interview on The Mike Douglas Show December 8th 1976. Part 2 of the one I submitted last year. This one you have a bonus of Brian singing "Back Home". After transferring the video I found that the audio sync was off. Through production with Pinnacle I fixed that and brought up the video levels. The interview and the song were put in two parts and came out a little choppy on the transition. That couldn't be fixed without loosing my audio sync again.

  • Man, that is so unfortunate of Mike Douglas making that joke about "rolling with the punches", and mike avoiding a punch. you can tell how awkward brian looked after that.

obviously, if Mr. Douglas really knew why brian was deaf, he wouldn't of said that, but what an odd coincidence.

  • Brian Wilson rocks!!!

  • that performance was fuckin epic

  • @SirBrianCabrera what guy is such an asshole? Mike Douglas was not an asshole. Rock/pop artists were frequent guests and were always treated with respect. This was an era when hosts like Johnny Carson didn't want/have rockers on the Tonight Show. MD brought rock 'n' roll to the daytime suburban housewife demographic. John and Yoko even co-hosted the MD show for a week in 1972. I'm sure MD didn't know Murray did damage by clubbing Bri upside the head, those stories were not publicly known yet.

  • that guy is such an asshole

  • He looks like Rob Reiner did in the 70's here.

  • He is pretty bummed out about not being able to hear stereo!

  • jesus christ there's nothing wrong with him. give the guy a fuckin break and stop treatin him like he's retarded.

  • Brian is so brutally honest when he speaks it almost punishes you to hear him.So talented thank the Lord for Brian.

  • Trader, thanks so much for restoring this and sharing it with us - bless you!

Re: Brian's deafness, I wonder if he would be helped now by a cochlear implant.

  • I am probably one of the youngest die-hard Brian Wilson fans, and this literary brought me to tears, not the performance, but the interview. He seems so much better than even before his breakdown... It's incredible to see him in such good shape. I thank the uploaded for sharing this incredible moment with generations to come :)
