Hello. This one is about the burden of keeping up appearances. It could be the financial burden of always buying new things, to show others and ourselves, how well we're doing. We keep consuming and wasting resources in an attempt to fill some void inside ourselves. We then have to spend more of our time working to pay for these, unnecessary, things and less time with each our families. It's also about the mental, emotional and spiritual toll on ourselves and our children. We live in fear of making mistakes and of people finding out about the ones we've already made. Instead of making our children feel loved and accepted we teach them to feel judged because they embarrass us. They feel pressured to make us look good. Once we learn to forgive and accept ourselves that fear disappears and the burden is lifted. We're no longer paralyzed. We are finally free to live. Nobody is perfect. To pretend otherwise is dishonest. Another thing that inspired this song is the sadness I feel when I see adults using children to hurt each other. It's often the self-proclaimed "good guys" who are responsible for causing the most harm. Hopefully, I'm better at expressing these things in song. : )
