Timothy Dalton makes his debut as 007 in the 1987 film The Living Daylights.

After twelve years of light touch of Roger Moore the series decides to shake things up. A presentation of Bond in a more realistic story, a more serious tone and....'GASP'.... he's only given one Bond Girl!!!

My thoughts and observations on the film and the new direction the series was taking after Roger Moore's departure.

  • Dalton was awesome, very underrated as Bond. Peolple should turn on to him more.

  • He was good but I just think he took it to seriously but Ian Fleming would have been proud, He did a dame good Job and portrayed all the qualities of being a Bond!!!

  • Dalton is by far one of the best actor's to play Bond. Alot of Bond fan's have slaimed Dalton for taking it too seriously. I felt it did an impressive job playing him enough, that i took him more serious than most who played Bond. I can understand why Dalton chose for a more harder edge, since he was taking over for someone who wasn't doing it in a serious level. Dalton brought back the darker aspect of the character.

  • very nice review m8 !! timothy dalton was amazing bond!! :)

  • @PurushaDesa To be fair Dalton was also following the most comic of all bond actors. The npublic get ued to a certain type of film and find it hard to change. Ironic that people criticised Dalton for being too serious and yet prasise Craig for the same thing. Personally I think Dalton is the actor who looks like a real life agent/assasin, close to Flemming original and I think his rep will improve with time.

  • The Living Daylights feels like a Roger Moore script with Dalton belatedly shoehorned into the part, while License to Kill is so uneven that it fails to truly establish the character. Goldeneye, though hardly perfect, was a far stronger script, and would have suited Dalton's Bond perfectly. Such a shame that he wasn't given anothet shot at the part.

  • @legatofancier Totally agree..!!

  • Timothy Dalton was my choice for Bond for some years before he actually took the job. If the writing and direction had been more supportive, he would have succeeded in refining Bond's on screen image to conform with Ian Fleming's original concept of the character. In a sense, Daniel Craig has been riding Dalton's coat tails. Craig has gotten credit for redefining Bond because the writing and direction did more to support his interpretation.

  • hey luv the vid..i was jst wanderin if anybody knows how to find this version of the song anywhere

  • great overview.

  • I really liked The Living Daylights. Dalton was a great Bond.

  • Timothy Dalton is Ian Flemmings bond, best on screen interpretation of the character.
