One of Barrios' masterpieces, hope you enjoy. This was a very difficult piece to do a video of, I've been trying for several days to get a good take. It's fairly long and with all the tough stretches a very taxing piece on the left hand so it's tough to play all the way through without glaring mistakes. I settled on this one take, it's sounds rough in several places and I should have held on to chords longer but the stretches were just too much. I hope you all can look past the technical problems. For guitarists who don't have long fingers like myself I've played the famous low Eb note on the 6th string first fret when it first appears with my left hand thumb which I swing around quickly like a cellist. It's difficult but not as difficult as the original stretch in this passage! The second time around I play those syncopated chords/measures an octave higher, it sounds good and only guitarists will know the difference ;-) Thanks for listening, would love to hear your comments. GR

  • Very nice! I have been playing this piece about a week now, and have just today managed to memorize it. Now the work of polishing it begins. That's why I'm here: I wanted to listen to a variety of interpretations of it. Nicely done. This piece would fall into ruin without a thoughtful approach. I was drawn in by your performance. Thank you for posting.

  • Lovely interpretation, well done. Regarding the long reaches, sometimes I drop the inner voice. That's my own "way around" the problem!

  • @MarkAntony - Thank you very much! Dropping the inner voice is a great idea, I'm going to give it a try. Only the aficionados will tell if they really pay attention ;-). Best regards, GR
