Hank 'B' Marvin is one of the best guitarists our country uk has ever produced. Famous for being in The Shadows, playing a red Fender Stratocaster and having no 1 hits like Apache, Wonderful Land, Dance On and backing Cliff Richard. Here is a slideshow to the man and his music and to his solo albums. Here Hank plays 'Wired For Sound' from his Hank Plays Cliff album. Enjoy

  • I've been trying to trace a song he did with Cliff years ago, on Cliff's TV show - they were showing a video, and Cliff was singing and Hank doing the guitar. Suddenly I thought, hang on, he was playing an accustic guitar a minute ago! and when they cut to him, he had TWO guitars, electric and accoustic, and every now and then he'd swing one to his back and the other to the front and pick up the tune without ever missing a note! THAT is skill!!!! Anyone know of any clip that might be it?

  • i am not sure but have an idea and it could be when hank played 'Something' by George Harrison'. This clip is on Youtube. Hope this helps!

    Kind regards

  • When I met Hank personally during a TV recording in Baden Baden, Germany in the early 80s, I was the lead guitarist of the Swiss Shadows, 'The four Windows'. What a thrill it was for me to spend a few hours with Hank!

  • Hi Andrew, as well as the music track, I liked the Video stills of all Hank's CD's and other pics.

Takes a lot of editing I know. I Did the a similar thing with all the Hank CD's I could find on my video of Summer House. I'll attach it. Thanks for posting and letting me know.

    Cheers Phil

  • I was wired to that sound, first time I heard it through my dad's old records

    :D

  • Hello

Always a great sound. Thank you very much :-)

  • the one I was thinking of was from Cliff's TV show; all I can remember of the song was "I planned to rob the lady / to grab her rings and run / but I fell in love with the lady, and came away with none"

dunno if that'll jog any memories anywhere around the world, lol

  • thanks andrew, it wasn't the one i remember but good all the same! *s*
