All Hell Let Loose - Hus i helvete (2002)
A film by Susan Taslimi

Synopsis
A story about a family in chaos, abput Minoo who wants to live her own life, about her father Serbandi, who does not realise that to love is to be able to let go, about her mother Nana who late in life longs to make career, about her sister Gita who is in love, about a grandmother who sees it all and about a confused little boy on the threshold of manhood.

Serbandi, an immigrant to Sweden from the Middle East, used to be a man of respect. Now, running a small catering business, he struggles to make ends meet.

Of course, his home life isn't any better: he has a tease of a wife, a promiscuous daughter, and a stripper sister. Now all hell seems to be breaking loose!

Settled in Sweden for the past decade, Iranian actress Susan Taslimi (known for her work in Bashu, the Little Stranger) makes an impressive debut as a director in this no-holds-barred look at the travails of an Iranian family attempting to adjust to their new homeland.

Minoo, a young woman in her early twenties, chafes under the increasingly disapproving attitude of her father, Serbandi, who feels unappreciated for all his sacrifices for the family.

Her mother, Nana, longs to step out on her own and finally have her own career, while sister Gita is worried about the family's reaction to her love interest. All this takes place under the watchful gaze of Minoo's grandmother, who takes it all in with some amusement.

Taslimi clearly loves working with her actors, and powerfully orchestrates all the nuances of the family's collective and individual emotions, creating a revealing and engaging look at cultural and generational collisions.

SUSAN TASLIMI is a celebrated Iranian actress. During her years in Sweden she has been active in the theatre. This is her directorial debut on film.
